Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Advanced Capabilities division is leading the development of the next generation of high-performance computing. Superconducting electronics forms the core of our technology, with a focus on energy-efficient computation using our patented superconducting digital logic technology, Reciprocal Quantum Logic (RQL). On a gate-for-gate basis, RQL consumes orders of magnitude less power than CMOS while running at significantly higher clock speeds.
The Advanced Capabilities division is seeking early career physicists and electrical engineers to join our team and develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality.
This position requires work onsite at our Advanced Technologies Laboratory located in Linthicum, MD OR Annapolis Junction, MD location.
Responsibilities:
Support test and test development activities for superconducting electronics development.
Testing procedures for the characterization and validation of RF and mixed signal device function in superconducting devices.
Support the current and future development of test platforms within function, cost and schedule constraints.
Document and implement test requirements and procedures.
Review test plans for accuracy and completeness.
Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
This position may be considered at a Systems Test Engineer or Principal Systems Test Engineer grade level based on the requirements below.
Basic Qualifications for Systems Test Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in a Physics or other STEM discipline with 2 years of relevant work experience. Masters’ Degree with 0 years of related work experience.
Familiarity in the use of at least one of the following programing languages; MATLAB, Python, or C++.
A working understanding of RF & mixed signal hardware and associated components.
Experience programing and automating electronic test hardware.
Strong analytic skills and familiarity in performing analysis.
Ability to communicate effectively to team members both written and verbally.
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements .
Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Test Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in a Physics or other STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant work experience. Masters’ Degree with 3 of related work experience.
Ability to communicate effectively to team members both written and verbally.
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements .
Experience and specific technical knowledge of at least two of the following:
Solid understanding of circuit design theory; extensive hands-on custom circuit design experience.
Work knowledge in the use of at least one of the following programing languages; MATLAB, Python, or C++.
A working understanding of RF & mixed signal hardware and associated components.
Experience programing and automating electronic test hardware.
Strong analytic skills and familiarity in performing analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in superconducting electronics and associated test platforms.
Familiarity working with cryogens and/or cryogenic test systems.
RF and/or microwave design or test at component, board, cable assembly level.
S-Parameter measurement and analysis.
Experience with PNA, Spectrum Analyzer, TDR measurement and analysis.
Ability to adjust to changing priorities and requirements.
Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance.
Salary Range: $81,000 – $127,400
Salary Range 2: $99,800 – $157,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
