Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Licensed Pharmacist and according to law and standard procedures, compounds, dispenses, and delivers medications and pharmaceutical supplies. Prepares sterile products as required. Fills orders, picks and delivers restocks for automated dispensing machines; pre-packs and compounds medications; enters charges into computer; makes rounds to deliver and return medications and IV’s; and performs other technical duties as assigned. Under minimal supervision, this position monitors, maintains and optimizes system performance utilizing systems management tools. Provides project management for key initiatives and brings Project Management sensibility to all tasks. This position also participates with coworkers on all IT related projects and is expected to provide cost effective business solutions based on Olathe Health’s business model.

Minimum Requirements: • High School or GED • Analytical, Mathematical, Organizational, Verbal Communication • Maintain a Registered Pharmnacy Technician License in the state of Kansas; required 90 days from start date • Maintain National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB); required 180 days from start date
Key Responsibilities: • Performs job duties in a manner to consistently improve the patient experience. Assists the nursing staff with coordinating medication therapy to meet individual needs. Contributes to the efficient availability of the right medication at the right time for our patients. Demonstrates organizational skills and plans ahead. • Consistently demonstrates cost savings activities: -Minimize drug and supply waste. -Demonstrates productive use of time. -Offers suggestions for cost savings. • Demonstrates knowledge of departmental information and procedural changes. Reads e-mail, reviews posted memos, attends staff meetings and staff in-services. • Able to respond to emergent situations and changing priorities in an effective way. Uses time to departmental advantage to ensure efficiency in completion of assigned tasks. Avoids non-productive activities during work time. • Demonstrates working knowledge and functionality of the pharmacy information system, hospital computer system, other pharmacy systems (Pyxis, Carousel, Packager), and work-related web access, as required.
