Position Summary

We are searching for a senior frontend engineer to join a team of passionate technologists who are revolutionising how our customers engage with our products. As a senior Frontend Engineer within our squads, you will be a true craftsman/craftswoman with a love for all things JavaScript specially in React, Redux, Typescript and other supporting advanced JS framework. You will have experience building technical feasible UI/UX designs and translating these into elegant, scalable and well tested/documented code and focus on client experience and delivering value to our customers. You will also be trusted with helping us select and implement new technologies in line with industry trends and your years of experience.

Key accountability includes:

• Translating UI/UX wireframes and visual designs to efficient frontend application UX and Business logic code
• Delivery of software applications of high quality, on schedule, and within agreed scope
• Manage requirements and scope as part of the agile process, where applicable
• Follow and improve software development processes, including agile processes. Learning never stops
• Assist recruitment of senior software engineers and software engineers
• Actively participate in all team meetings and discussions
• Engage the business stakeholders directly involved in the project
• Deliver software solutions to complex requirements
• Work individually and in virtual teams
• Contribute to outcomes in a dynamic, customer focussed team
• Write efficient, clean, tested and documented code ready for reuse by others
• Optimising application for maximum speed and scalability across various platforms and devices
• Participating in tool and technology selection processes and creating proof of concept models for new technologies and approaches
• Formulate the technical design and evaluate effort estimates
• Coordinate with back-end developers
• Adhere to Optus policies and guidelines while delivering the operational results

Experience and Qualifications

Qualification including:

• Bachelor/Master in Information Technology/ Computer Science.

C1. EXPERIENCE -ALL

• Required experience, understanding or credentials in:
• Minimum 8 years of experience in software development on enterprise grade web applications.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in leading a small team of frontend developers across multiple teams.
• Experience with agile software delivery
• Excellent understanding of complex module and strategy patterns in frontend development.
• Experience in working within a large software development team
• Excellent understanding of layered architecture
• Proven experience working closely and effectively with business representatives
• Ability to work as an individual or as a part of a team
• Ability to implement automated tests
• Experience with handling WCAG2.1 AA Compliant Accessibility requirements for web pages
• Expertise with git, and other Atlassian products
• Proven ability to exercise effective technical solutions and innovation in high pressure situations.
• Proven ability to lead a small team of developers
• Experience with Sonar, or any other code quality analysis tools, is highly desirable
• Experience with Bamboo, Jenkins or any other major continuous integration build tools
• Desired experience, understanding or credentials in:
• Experience with Tier 3 production support activities; familiar with Service Level Agreement and its compliance
• Telco experience is desirable
• Understanding of SOA is desirables

C2. EXPERIENCE –Front End Required experience, understanding or credentials in:

• Minimum 7 years of experience in modern web application development
• Advanced level proficiency in React, HTML 5.0, CSS3, CSS Pre Processors – SASS/LESS, ES6+, Typescript, Foundation, Responsive Web Design, Component Web Design, page optimisation.
• Commercial, hands-on working on experience with TDD, specifically JEST & Cypress
• Creating configuration, build, and test scripts for Continuous Delivery environments.
• Experience with automated module bundlers such as Webpack/Parcel
• Highly Experience with automated build tool such as gulp, grunt
• Highly Experience with package managers such as npm, yarn
• Experience with source code management workflows across multiple teams with Git
• Ability to implement a fully automated CI/CD pipeline using Bamboo, from code checking to production deployment
• Experience working in fast paced agile delivery environment and manage work via JIRA or a similar tracking tool
• Ability to design and implement unit test cases, integration test cases and performance test cases for APIs and UI components
• Experience working collaboratively with other engineering teams on a product
• Experience creating APIs to support front end features
• Practical experience with functional programming concepts will be advantageous.
• Experience in consuming Web Services – REST/JSON
