About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
As our Chief Executive you will lead and manage a team of seven staff (5.6 FTE) to progress PNZ’s strategic framework, while ensuring team wellbeing and strong relationships with members and stakeholders – 200 grant makers, investors, individual philanthropists and other types of funders. The Chief Executive is the organisational spokesperson, supporting PNZ to have a high and positive profile in service of its strategic aims to celebrate and grow effective giving.

You will demonstrate a genuine commitment to philanthropy, better giving and a strong eco-system to support this activity. Exceptional relationship-building skills are complemented by your seasoned influencing capabilities, allowing you to foster trust, confidence, and shared purpose with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Your strong operational management experience ensures our organisation runs efficiently, maximising our potential to inspire positive change in Aotearoa New Zealand. Your passion for fundraising and revenue generation drives you to explore innovative ways to secure the resources needed to sustain our impactful work. As an organisation, we’re on a journey to better engaging with Māori and supporting our members to do this. We are looking for someone with an understanding of, and a commitment to Te Tiriti of Waitangi. If you’re non-Māori, you’ll have a track record of working with Tangata whenua.

Philanthropy New Zealand | Tōpūtanga Tuku Aroha o Aotearoa (PNZ) is a registered charity and membership organisation representing and supporting philanthropy and grant making in New Zealand. As a ‘peak body’ PNZ has a role in thought leadership for the sector – gathering ideas, information, research and having a sense of the bigger picture of the role philanthropy plays in society. The purpose of PNZ is to celebrate and grow effective giving. We do this by: enabling positive change; inspiring generosity; and strengthening the funding system. PNZ also acts as a professional association for grant makers, and aids in professional development through in-person conferences, online resources, and continued learning opportunities.
