Anyone who knows the pipfruit sector knows full well that the apple picking and packing season ramps up and runs pretty much full speed from February to July in Hawkes Bay. We need a Chief Exec who is keen and able to flex up and down in terms of the strategic and operational workflow and workload across the year. Ideally this means you are open to working full time through the busy season and in a reduced hours capacity in the offseason.

Kea Fruit, an independent packhouse operation providing independent growers with packing facilities and market connection for their fruit, is really starting to make significant impact. You will report to the Board through their independent Chair. You will be responsible for overseeing the operational, and commercial performance of the business, and for developing with the board a strategy for further growth.

We are looking for a leader who can further drive functionality, compliance and efficiency of the business to ensure Kea Fruit’s growth is sustainable and that returns to the owners are maximised. We need a leader who loves being visible across operations – you will feel at home walking the floor in the packhouse in height of the packing season. And you will also hold key relationships with strategic partners, suppliers, growers, packhouse management and exporters. It is essential you can offer operational pragmatism, as well as hold your self well in the board room.

Leadership experience in the pipfruit sector will be highly regarded here.
