Hotel Waterloo and Backpackers is an iconic building in Wellington and we need a Maintenance Assistant to help ensure it remains beautiful and help with an ongoing refurbishment and maintenance programme.
This position is a crucial role and is essential to the efficient running of our wider portfolio. You will be working safely to ensure efficient maintenance and minor building projects across the Hotel, with a focus on expedient and cost-effective repair and builds. Your day could involve a multitude of tasks from painting and plastering, maintenance work, water blasting, carpet cleaning and building work.
We’re looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and skilled Maintenance Assistant with a can-do attitude. Your experience and record back up your positive attitude and excitement for what lies ahead with this opportunity.
You’ll be a skilled handyman who is happy to give any task a go, ideally, you’ll be a skilled plaster/painter as there is a lot of painting to be done. You’ll be able to work to a timeline and workable to work independently.
An old building such as Hotel Waterloo comes with surprises and challenges, so you need to be quick thinking and innovative, ensuring that the business can remain operating while we prepare for a larger refurbishment in the next 12-18 months.

The role is primarily worked Monday to Friday however some weekend work may be required on occasion, but we try keep this to a minimum.
