Private Family Hiring for Greenhouse & Aquaponics Facility Manager at Salado, TX Full Time

As part of our family farm, we have a beautiful 7,200 sqft organic greenhouse/aquaponics facility in Salado, TX. We are seeking a qualified, motivated, and trustworthy individual to run and manage the daily operations of this facility.

Responsibilities Include:

• Managing plants by seeding, growing, watering, spacing, pruning, planting, weeding, cleaning, harvesting etc.
• Operation, cleaning, and maintenance of greenhouse structure, greenhouse control systems, and all aquaponics equipment
• Feed fish, remove mortalities, and care for aquatic species
• Monitor daily water quality data
• Pest management
• Keeping track of inventory and re-stocking all supplies as needed
• Relay information regarding issues with system operation and general issues to the Estate Manager.
• Record daily data and other pertinent information in digital/written form in accordance with requests from the Estate Manager and/or Facility Owners
• Weekly reporting to the Estate Manager
• Maintain reliable attendance.
• Actively participate in meetings, training, and education. Assist with training other employees and/or volunteers.
• Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.

Qualifications and Expectations Include:

• Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, aquaponics, or related field (REQUIRED)
• Experience working in a greenhouse, aquaponics, or hydroponics facility (REQUIRED)
• Self-motivated, independent worker with the ability to set priorities and work with minimal direction and supervision
• Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite & Google Docs
• Ability to identify greenhouse crops and diagnose common weed, pest, and disease problems.
• Basic maintenance and repair skills for greenhouse & aquaponics structures and equipment.
• Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs, work standing for prolonged periods of time, and be comfortable working in temperatures ranging from 34-95 F
• Work in remote/rural environment.

Schedule & Benefits:

• Monday – Friday (30-40 hrs/week. Some weekend hours may be needed if necessary for the facility to operate properly)
• Flexibility to set your own hours (although it is recommended to work in the mornings when the temperatures are not as hot)
• Two weeks of paid time off per year

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 – $19.00 per hour
