The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government’s ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.

We’re looking for talented, tenacious and organised people to join our Prison Technology Transformation Programme (PTTP) at flexible locations to help deliver modern technology to the whole of the prison service. We use cutting-edge agile project management methodologies as well as more long-standing waterfall techniques that live up to the unique challenges of MoJ’s responsibility to society and our complex operational and headquarters structures and processes.

As a Administratoryour main responsibilities will be:

• Working alongside the deployment teams Lead teams/directorates/establishments through the transition lifecycle. This includes supporting engagement, communication, business change, deployment and early life support activities required to deliver new technology to HMPPS staff
• Co-ordinate, schedule and issue communications to sites and individuals
• Monitor, respond and escalate issues/questions raised in the programme inbox.
• Support deployment teams to build and execute the deployment plan per site
• Attend Transition and Deployment team meetings and be expected to present and/or lead on certain topics when required.
• Attend business led meetings (when required) with the SPOC and other key stakeholders (for example prison SMTs) to support the engagement and communications teams.
• Using team and customer feedback, identify trends and/or issues that impede effective delivery and use of ICT to seek opportunities to enhance the customer experience and feed this into the wider transition team.
• Maintain risks to deployment delivery at team/directorate/establishment level and escalate appropriately, managing those risks where appropriate.
• Identify, maintain and respond, or escalate opportunities for providing improved services to the business organisation and/or specific user groups or individuals.
• Taking direction from line / functional management and designated programme and workstream leads, utilise resources available to facilitate deployments efficiently.
• Support the recruitment and engagement for the MoJ Official Champions to enable them to take forward improvements within their site.
• Continually seek efficiency improvements to reduce costs and improve benefits in all areas.

Essential Skills

• Have a fair understanding of Programme and Project management methodologies including ‘Agile’ delivery of IT services and Prince2
• Understand working within HMPPS Operational environments i.e. the activities, structures and position in the organisation of the teams or departments for which services are being provided.
• Possess good communications, relationship building, negotiation and influencing skills. You may have to communicate positive and negative news to key stakeholders at certain times, and you will need the confidence to relay these messages effectively.
• Be IT literate with good knowledge of MS Office products, particularly Office 365 and Microsoft Teams
