What will you do in this job?:
Experience working in Travel Trade is highly preferred for this position.
Travel Trade is a tourism term referring to tour operators, travel agents, receptive operators and wholesalers. These professionals organize and contract to buy travel products to sell to groups or individuals.
In this role, you are responsible to drive incremental revenue and profit for the Banff Jasper Collection transportation, attraction and lodging businesses using a rational, disciplined decision-making process while managing risk under current and anticipated market conditions. This highly collaborative position is key to the development and implementation of effective product, price, inventory and distribution strategies. This position oversees all aspects of inventory management in all guest channels.
This role requires leadership, strong relationship-building abilities, change management skills, creative thinking, and an analytical mind. It requires an ability to successfully communicate rate and product recommendations to Pursuit Leadership Team, Sales Directors and General Managers who must adopt new pricing strategies before they can impact revenue. To be successful, you will be highly collaborative with Revenue Managers across Pursuit, and all stakeholders within their businesses.
- Will lead the pricing/revenue management strategy and execution for our Banff/Jasper region
- Optimize price strategies through definition and management of all rates, rate levels, stay restrictions and other tactics, congruent with demand factors and managed through all distribution channels
- Lead a growing department focused on team member career development, engagement and fun
- Play an active role in annual business plans, working along-side marketing and sales to set budgets with Room Nights/ADR and PAX/ETP and Revenue by sales channel
- Advance dynamic pricing initiatives through partnership with IDeas and Digonex as well as operations teams
- Update in conjunction with Sales, and track to, an annual rate requirement timeline to include lodging, attraction and transportation pricing, package pricing and F&B pricing
- Set OTA strategy and manage all lodging OTA partners to maximize revenue
- Play a pivotal role in Data Governance and on the Enterprise Data Warehouse success team
- Prepare for and chair weekly revenue management meetings
- Determine the optimal mix of business and work with DOS and sales team members to encourage strategic selection of business
- Accurately prepare Monthly Forecasts (Day by Day) for each business
- Evaluate available Market Share/Data reports to understand trends and opportunities and the market as a whole and ensure targeted pricing and positioning is achieved
- Proactively monitor local events and plan for demands on inventory and communicate with revenue management team
- Ensure all related systems are configured correctly, validated and working to full capacity
- Audit the fulfillment process to ensure standards are being met and identify opportunities for improvement in call center, website, and walk-up scenarios
- Provide inventory and pricing for group sales-inclusive of Regional and Tour and Travel
- Be a Revinate super user, understand positive and negative guest feedback for each line of business, collaborate to determining research priorities, execution and communication of results
- Must be knowledgeable of all marketing, sales, operations and contact center initiatives
- Enforces and follows all Viad and Pursuit policies and regulations, including our ‘Always Honest’ code of conduct
- Highly collaborative and maintains regular, open lines of communication with the Contact Center, Sales, Marketing and Operations teams
- Completes other tasks and projects as needed to support the Pursuit Leadership Teams.
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a business pricing role, analysis role, or similar work experience related to driving revenue and business growth required.
- Strong working knowledge of PMS and POS systems required. Experience working with tools such as Maestro, RTP, Wizard, Pacific preferred.
- Advanced experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PPT, MS Teams) strongly preferred.
- Strong “can-do,” attitude with willingness to be flexible and adaptable.
- Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment.
- Strong commitment to building positive working relationships.
- Willingness to work with a geographically dispersed team in a seasonal environment.
- Resourceful, with a curiosity to solve problems and create new solutions.
