PwC Looking for Research Specialist at Toronto, ON Full Time

A career in Knowledge Management, within Internal Firm Services, will provide you with the opportunity to play an integral part of knowledge sharing across the PwC network so that we can continually provide better service to our clients. You’ll help organise and manage various sources of information as well as provide research support for internal and external clients.

Our Research team supports internal leaders through research and data analytics to provide actionable insights. You’ll work with our team to examine news media, litigation resources, securities violations, and other applicable sources and will summarise adverse findings for the investigating team. You’ll also routinely provide procedural support to practitioners navigating PwC’s client risk assessment requirements and tools.

Purpose-led work you’ll be part of

As a Research Specialist, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to

Carry out pre engagement compliance tasks associated with client and project onboarding

Gather market intelligence/data to understand the nature of business, ownership and group structure of clients

Conduct research on key personnel and their connections to the organisation

Conduct thorough and systematic searches of media, legal, Internet, and other relevant sources with excellent attention to detail to verify principal identity, and screen for adverse data, country risk and Politically Exposed Persons PEP

Analyse and summarise findings in designated systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications

Communicate with cross-functional stakeholders on key findings

Understand the process workflow related to work requests from initiation through completion, how workflow is managed within the firm’s workflow management tool

Proactively build relationships with all team members within PwC including engagement with client teams

Communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing with a range of key stakeholders

Work collaboratively to drive ideas/solutions with peers, TL’s and managers which will improve Client and PwC’s efficiency process

Other duties as assigned by management such as Quality Control of work to ensure high quality standards are maintained for KYC casework

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve

Research/KYC experience in a professional services firm or financial institution, an asset

Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint,etc.) including an understanding of v-lookup, text, reference and logical information functionality in Excel

Technical aptitude for learning new applications and databases (such as Factiva, World-Check, Bridger, Fenergo, DisclosureNet, BoardEx, LexisAdvance, Quicklaw, PPSA etc.)

Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate and manage expectations with engagement teams and clients

Proficiency in other languages, an asset

Demonstrated self-motivation and attention to detail, with a desire to take responsibility for personal growth and development

Understand the business in order to provide enhanced client-centric service delivery

Use feedback and reflection to develop self-awareness, personal strengths and address development areas

Develop new ideas and propose innovative solutions to problems

Review your work for quality, accuracy and relevance

Use straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing others
