What you’ll be doing

A newly created role, you’ll be responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of procurement practices. In leading the transformation and ongoing management of an effective procurement framework, you’ll enable QLDC to deliver great public value with the use of commercially astute processes.

The role will involve:

• Setting procurement policy, standards, guidelines, and controls ensuring they reflect sound procurement practices and leading the organisation in aligning with global best practice and maximising public value.
• Lead the implementation of a procurement strategy embedding an appropriate operating model for the function.
• Providing training and guidance to procurement users on all facets of the procurement life cycle.
• Working across Council departments, building strong relationships with key figures and senior leaders.
• Managing procurement spend categories shared across the Council through the development of category strategies and delivering sourcing activities to execute them.

What you’ll bring to the role

You’ll have a number of years experience in a senior procurement role and will have a sound understanding of procurement best practice. You’ll have knowledge in all functional areas of procurement including sourcing, operations, contract management, and supplier relationship management. A strong communicator, you’ll be able to relate to people with various levels of understanding and will have the ability to disseminate sometimes complex information to all involved.

To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:

• Hold a tertiary qualification in commerce, finance, business, law or a related field.
• Have proven success influencing and driving change at all levels of an organisation.
• Experience in procurement in the public sector is highly beneficial.
