The Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking a motivated Section Leader to lead the senior level technical staff. In addition to program assignments, the Section Leader will work with the Department Leader and other department staff in the execution of MPT and RMD Engineering goals. This Section Leader will supervise a team of 8-12 diverse and experienced individuals. The Section Leader will work closely with section members on their performance and career development goals. Management duties include performance development and appraisal, salary planning, manpower planning, career coaching, and ensuring adherence to company policies. The Section Leader will ensure there is regular communication with section members and serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments, performance impact and recognition.
Qualification You Must Have:
Education: B.S in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree
Prior leadership roles (frontline or project leader)
Ten (10) years professional experience in mechanical design and / or production support
Experience in being an advocate for process improvement (e.g. CMMI, R6S), a team builder, and able to build strong relationships and effectively partner with internal resources.
Proven ability in leading technical teams and putting forth execution plans
Must currently have or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance
Ability to access and work onsite in proprietary areas
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
Education: MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree
Fourteen (14) years professional experience in aerospace industry preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to influence senior leaders.
Recognized technical authority and experience developing and executing technical plans
Experience leading investigative teams to determine root cause and corrective action
Some experience and knowledge in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development
Ability to build a collaborative network quickly that focuses on empowering employees, leading and motivating teams, and fostering collaboration
Experience with Performance Development Processes
Proven ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
Experience with technical and cost proposal development, technical risk management, and managing cost and schedule for program execution
Ability to multi-task and successfully manage multiple activities at any given time
Strong presentation and technical writing skills combined with knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools.
