Hourly rate: $24.55/hr plus benefits package

Position Summary
Reporting to the Community Support Program Supervisor, the Downtown Community Support Team members will consist of a team of up to eight civilians (this includes the supervisor) who will conduct year-round, daily circuits on foot in the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District and Warehouse Improvement District. Traveling in pairs, the team will connect with vulnerable community members affected by mental health, addictions, and homelessness, supporting them through street outreach actions. These actions may involve making phone calls, finding services, escorting people to services, and helping those in crisis fill out paperwork when needed as well as de-escalating a variety of safety and security concerns. CSP team members will collaborate with community agencies to facilitate vulnerable community members, access to relevant services such as food, shelter, health care, risk prevention/harm reduction, and crisis counseling. CSP team members will facilitate strong partnerships with the business community, community organizations, and the public regarding safety and security concerns downtown.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Responsible for the tracking, recording of CSP daily interactions.
Responsible for maintaining accurate filing;
Responsible for attending all on the job training;
Walking the downtown Regina and Warehouse district;
Checking in with businesses;
Responding to non-emergent calls from members, the public, and the police;
Connecting with vulnerable people, identifying their needs, and offering support, if needed;
Filling out reports on interactions/incidents;
Attending community events;
Engaging with the public, answering inquiries;
Attending community meetings related to safety, security, homelessness, addictions, mental health crises, etc.;
Attending workshops and sessions to stay up to date on training.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
Some education in Human Justice, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Social Sciences, Corrections, Justice Studies, Police Studies, Health Sciences; A combination of education and work experience will be considered;
A minimum of 2 years of experience with people facing homelessness, mental health issues, at-risk youth and or addictions;
Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and Indigenous Knowledge systems;
Physically capable of being mobile up to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Can work with a high degree of confidentiality;
Strong teamwork and good problem-solving skills; and
Able to establish effective working relationships with many different people and organizations.

A Certificate, Diploma or Degree in a related field;
First Aid/CPR
Mental Health First Aid
