This is temporary, full-time position for RMD Management, Inc. d/b/a Mountain Valley Stone, Inc.
Successful applicants will become proficient in the following areas: set up, operate, or tend machines that cut or slice stone. Mark cutting lines, feed stock into cutting machines, onto conveyors, or under cutting blades, by threading, guiding, pushing, or turning handwheels. Start pumps to circulate water. Review and maintain production records, work orders, blueprints, specifications, or job samples, determine settings & adjustments for machines, quantities, types, and dimensions of materials produced. Start machines, verify setups, make necessary adjustments, type instructions on computer keyboards, and use buttons, levers, and pedals to operate machinery. Monitor and adjust operation of cutting machines to detect malfunctions, alter position, alignment, speed, or pressure. Use conveyors, carts, hand trucks, lift trucks, cranes, manual labor, and other tools and equipment to move, stack, and sort cut material for further processing as well as removing defective or substandard materials from machines. Applicants will also clean and lubricate cutting machines, conveyors, blades, saws, or knives. Change or replace saw blades, cables, cutter heads, and grinding wheels. Sharpen cutting blades, knives, or saws using files, bench grinders, or honing stones.
Repeated heavy lifting is required. Applicants must be of physical character able to display strength and dexterity in both arms and hands, exhibit trunk strength using abdominal and lower back muscles continually over time, as well as be able to spend the majority of the work day standing without giving out. All work is performed outside in varying mountainous weather conditions at various elevations. Position requires the ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions with exactness and integrity. No experience or prior training/education required. Applicants will be trained in proper wearing and use of safety guidelines, tools, and equipment including hand tools, forklifts, equipment hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and gloves and will be required to comply with exactness.
Employer will provide all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned.
Work days are Monday through Friday with possible Saturday work. Work hours are generally from 7 AM to 6 PM. It is anticipated that the job will begin October 1, 2023 and go through June 30, 2024.
A worker in this position will be working in Browns Canyon, Summit County, Utah or in Gunnison Valley, Sanpete County, Utah. Applicants will likely reside in Summit, Wasatch, Salt Lake, or Sanpete Counties.
Hourly pay is $20.45/hour; overtime pay, if any, will be paid at a rate of $30.68/hour for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a standard work week (Sunday through Saturday). After 30 days of employer-provided training, workers must be able to produce 14,000 to 21,000 pounds of finished product each day. Workers may be eligible to receive a higher wage dependent on amount of finished product produced each week. Workers are paid bi-weekly on the Friday following the last day of the pay period.
The employer does not provide board, lodging, or any other fringe benefits.
The employer will deduct required federal and state taxes (social security, medicare, federal withholding, and UT state withholding) from applicant paychecks as well as any voluntarily elected employee benefits.
The employer will provide or pay for worker’s travel to the workplace. The employer will reimburse daily travel subsistence after the worker completes 50 percent of the period of employment covered by the job order. The worker will be reimbursed at a travel subsistence rate of $15.46 per day during travel and may receive a maximum of $59.00 per travel day with documentation of actual expenses. tified period of employment or is dismissed f om employment for any reason by the employer before the end of the period, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s cost of return transportation and daily subsistence from the workplace to the place the worker departed to work for the employer.
The employer does not provide daily transportation to and from the worksite.
In the first workweek, employer will reimburse the worker for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the worker.
