Robert Walters Looking for Head of Portfolio at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Full Time

A key organisation within the education sector is looking for a Head of Portfolio and Delivery Manager to ensure strategic and operational success across its digital portfolio. Reporting to the Director Digital Workplace Experience and Delivery, the Head of Portfolio will manage the current and future product delivery and ensure the prioritisation of key projects/programmes of work. As part of the Digital Leadership Group, this person will be looking after a team of Project Managers and Change Managers and lead on the digital delivery operating model in an agile way of working.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the continuous improvement of the project management practice, portfolio performance, delivery effectiveness and change management activities.
• Manage the allocation of Project and Change Managers to initiatives across the Portfolio.
• Continuously improve portfolio methodologies to drive best practice and enhance our value delivery capability and champion strategic planning and delivery best practice.
• Monitor delivery frameworks and tooling adoption, taking the lead in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct analysis to identify Portfolio level risks and issues that may impact the ability of the portfolio to deliver required business benefits and lead the development of mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with Business Owners, Product Managers, Portfolio team members, and Finance to ensure key portfolio performance data and measures are complete and accurate (e.g., financials, schedule, RAG status, RAID, benefits).

Key Requirements

• Advanced skills in project delivery, including through portfolio/programme management or consulting, ideally having worked in both the public and private sector.
• Skilled in managing complex, multifaceted projects/portfolios across multiple departments and customers.
• Skilled in risk management, with demonstrated ability to manage risks, issues and inter-dependencies across multiple customers, teams, departments and organisations.
• Advanced planning and forecasting skills, with demonstrated ability to take a continuous approach to planning, forecasting, estimating, financial tracking and forecasting.
