The Royal College of Art is the UK’s only entirely postgraduate institution of art and design, dedicated to teaching, research and knowledge exchange with industry. Applications are invited for a Student Support advisor in Student Support. This is a full time and permanent role, reporting to the Student Centre Manager or Deputy Head of Student Experience.

The role is largely focused on one-to-one student casework, covering a range of subjects from financial support, disability support, immigration and visas, housing, complaints, and academic appeals. The post holder will be an integral part of the Student Centre team, our newly formed co-located hub that provides effective crisis triage alongside information, advice and guidance. The Centre team works cross-departmentally to promote inclusion and belonging by putting the student at the heart of the RCA community. Acting as a frontline Advisor, the post holder will be familiar with key advice-skills which will allow them to explore the challenges students are facing.

The post holder will often be the first contact point for students in crisis and they will need to be calm under pressure and familiar with mental health first aid. The post holder will maintain our daily drop-in service, assisting students, and working with the team to manage appropriate referrals. They will also have a daily schedule of appointments and their own caseload to manage.
