Represents or oversees the representation of Santander US or its various entities to minimize legal, compliance and regulatory risk by preventing or resolving issues and ensuring adherence to business and legal standards. Gathers, documents and examines data to determine and assess the compliance, regulatory and/or legal environment and to monitor ongoing activities and/or concerns. Researches, investigates, advises on and responds to regulatory developments, consumer practices, governance and corporate responsibility initiatives in order to safeguard and enhance the company and the Santander Group’s reputation
USA Job Function Description: Works in a variety of ways to advance the company’s interests and maintain and enhance the company’s reputation by educating and influencing external audiences/stakeholders (i.e., customers, media, government organizations, general public) to improve the environment in which the company and its businesses operates. Develops and implements strategies for influencing government policy and legislative direction to foster favorable legislative, regulatory, political, community and economic operating conditions for the company. Oversees community relations/corporate responsibility and consumer practices initiatives in order to help address social, economic, and environmental challenges and promote the company’s positive image.
Essential Functions/Responsibility Statements:
Manage ESG data, in collaboration with other functions. Work to enhance data capture and quality through strengthening of existing ESG data infrastructure.
Partner with stakeholders to expand financial and nonfinancial reporting in alignment with various ESG standards.
Respond to requests for ESG information and data collection from internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to Banco Santander, SA., client/customer/ESG Analyst requests. Understand and help Santander US navigate reporting requirements (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) and develop processes, controls and technology to support reporting. Serve as a subject matter expert.
Support sustainability-related implementation projects, including learning and development, reporting, and business process transformation projects.
Deliver written and visual summaries of ESG performance for both internal and external audiences, including dashboards, slide decks and reports.
Support development of comprehensive and US-wide ESG strategy, inclusive of product, service and operational pillars.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Communications, Technology, Sustainability or related field (Req)
Work Experience:
12-15 years in Financial Services, Legal, Regulatory, or Sustainability. (Req)
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication, presentation and reasoning skills
Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Strong collaboration and networking across the organization while able to lead and work independently
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, must be very strong in both written and verbal communications with proven ability to prepare and deliver public presentations
Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates and management
Ability to manage multiple project activities simultaneously to short timescale
Creative, innovative, agile and flexible

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occassional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
