About the Role
Reporting to the Case Management Manager you will work alongside prisoners to identify and address the factors that led to their offending. You will assess their needs and develop a plan of the services and support they will require in prison, and on release. You will work alongside a wide range of professionals, including custodial staff, psychologists, program facilitators, whānau liaison officers, teachers and tutors, community providers and health staff, to ensure that plan is delivered. In addition to this, you will also be working to deadlines, writing professional reports and attending the parole board hearings.
To be successful in the role, you will have: Previous experience in the security or criminal justice sector (desired), Custodially trained as a Corrections or Police Officer (preferred) Familiarity with Te reo Maori as well as Maori and Pasifika values and customs (desired), Community engagement, key stakeholder liaison and working with special interest groups, particularly in the criminal justice system, Knowledge and experience of case management and/or rehabilitation and reintegration practice Background in rehabilitative services, allied health services and/or psychology, Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate, problem solve, negotiate and resolve conflict with those that may display challenging behaviours or come from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds, High energy, drive and motivation in your work, Personal integrity and an ethos consistent with Serco values and Kohuora ASCF kaupapa, An understanding of the principles of partnership in the Treaty of Waitangi, and a commitment to better outcomes for Māori, The right to work legally in New Zealand.
You must be able to maintain relevant security and criminal compliance checks. This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment as an essential selection component for this role.
