Safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility. However, school and education staff play a unique role due to their frequent contact with children and families and the relationships that develop over time. The Education Safeguarding Team provides advice, information and guidance to education settings on their safeguarding arrangements and practice. The team delivers and writes Sheffield’s safeguarding training for children’s education settings. Our aim is to support education staff with the knowledge and skills to protect every child and young person in Sheffield from harm, support them to develop their potential and to create an environment where they feel safe to learn.
We are looking to recruit to a part time permanent post whereby the postholders will specialise in Safeguarding, PSHE, and Physical and Emotional Wellbeing. The successful candidates would be required to provide high level training and support to schools and wider educational settings to enable them to develop and achieve excellence in policy and practice.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience of dealing with safeguarding issues within an educational establishment and in supporting children and young people’s emotional and mental health. They will also be a confident trainer and adept at delivering face to face and online/remote training using MS Teams. You will need to have a relevant professional qualification and experience of working in a relevant field e.g. social work, teaching, nursing, policing etc and an in depth understanding and application of relevant legislation. You will offer advice and support to Heads and Senior Managers and Governing bodies will contribute to serious case reviews, audits and information to support Ofsted inspections. The candidate needs to have excellent relationship building skills in order to support and challenge effectively and be confident in managing and responding to complaints.
