This position is responsible for supporting and executing the site’s safety, health, environmental, and property preservation (EHS) systems. The position’s primary role is to support the plant in ensuring that the site’s EHS process meets the objectives of Sherwin-Williams’ Corporate and Divisional policies, procedures, and guidelines. 1. Management Leadership • Maintains EHS written programs as assigned • Assists in managing site EHS tactical plans per division/region/site guidance. • Leads by example in complying with site requirements • Accessible to respond to site emergencies and provide verbal or remote guidance • Utilizes tools such as CARES and Ecomet to manage site data and identify trends 2. Employee Involvement & Engagement • Supports EHS Committees and participates as assigned • Maintains tools that promotes employee recognition and reporting of hazards through closure of corrective and preventative actions. • Promotes a positive work culture by engaging with employees on the floor to learn processes, reward positive behaviors and intervene when employees are putting themselves at risk. • Be receptive and timely respond to employee concerns as needed. • Encourage employees to participate in formal behavioral observation or hazard recognition programs. 3. Worksite Analysis • Participates in incident investigations and root cause analysis. Verifies actions are established and entered into CARES for tracking and analysis. • Coordinates with Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Health and assists in execution of finding recommendations resulting from sampling results. • Coordinates with Occupational Medicine in assisting with site medical surveillance programs such as hearing conservation and respiratory protection. • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering to help ensure that routine and required inspections are recorded and are included in computerized maintenance management systems such as eAM. • Coordinate with Occupational health providers such as Axiom and local clinics to ensure employees obtain needed medical care for occupational injuries. Communicate medical recommendations to site management and enter in CARES. 4. Hazard Prevention and Control • Manages assigned action management tasks (CARES Action Plans) and assists site owners and other subject matter experts in addressing and closing these actions. • Supports risk assessment process by participating in these events and assist with the creation & closing of the resulting actions. • Participate in MOC’s and assist change/project managers with their required activities and action plans • Participate with leadership team in reviewing new processes, equipment and changes to help ensure EHS requirements are met. • Understand and execute role in site emergency response plan. 5. Training • Supports EHS Training Plan/Calendar and assists site management in executing training to comply with internal and regulatory EHS requirements • Ensure that necessary and regulatory required EHS topics are covered in New Employee Orientation • Supports and participates in awareness activities to address identified site, company, and industry trends • Assist Operations with the development of SOP’s and other procedures. 6. Regulatory Compliance • Assist with maintenance of environmental permits and permit requirements in conjunction with Corp Environmental. • Participates by owning tasks in CARES Compliance module to ensure assigned regulatory required tasks are current • Acts as backup site contact for region, division and corporate resources and audits as well as regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and those at the state/local level. • Participates in required inspections of waste areas and equipment. Follow up accordingly on identified gaps. Minimum Qualifications: • Must be at least 18 years of age • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment visa status • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or four (4) years of work experience in environmental, health and safety • 1 year of previous safety experience or completion of a Sherwin Williams Development Program in an environmental, health and safety function • Thorough knowledge of the concepts, foundations, principles, and techniques of risk control as applied to the occupational setting Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of OSHA regulations or VPP programs • Degree in Environmental or Health & Safety • At least three (3) years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience • Basic knowledge of industrial lift operation, respirators, and other major safety standards • Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) • Safety experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment Sherwin-Williams is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace.
