Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:
The Laboratory Medical Director shall oversee and be responsible for the administration of the technical and scientific operation of the clinical laboratory including supervision of test procedures and the reporting of all laboratory results. The Laboratory Medical Director will have oversight of the Quality Management System infrastructure of the laboratory, ensuring its implementation to provide quality results for patient care. Significant aspects of the work include assurance that laboratories meet all clinical diagnostic and regulatory requirements and to maintain effective working relationships with departmental program directors and other laboratory health practitioners and workforce partners. The Laboratory Medical Director operates under the general direction of laboratory leadership and has the authority to delegate duties as needed.
Job Responsibilities:

• In conjunction with the department leadership and the Sonic Healthcare administration, the Laboratory Director will plan, validate and create robust testing methods, which are part of the test development process to achieve the goals of the laboratory.
• Actively participate in leadership and management within Sonic Healthcare USA (SHUSA) organization by routine involvement in the management, personnel, and strategic planning processes of the organization.
• Effectively carry out all duties and responsibilities as stated in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments and the College of American Pathologist Team Leader Assessment Standards.
• Ensure accreditation with all state and government agencies as well as other accrediting bodies by adhering to all applicable standards.
• Provide oversight of the Laboratory’s quality management system to ensure conformance to established requirements.
• Provide advice to referring physicians regarding the significance of laboratory findings and ensure test results/reports include pertinent information required for specific patient interpretation.
• Provide effective and efficient administration of the laboratory; including budget planning and controls in conjunction with the SHUSA finance and leadership teams.
• Provide educational oversight of staff and ensure established policies and procedures are in place for competency assessment and remedial training as needed.
• Ensure staff follow established policies, procedures and responsibilities; providing professional feedback to Directors, Supervisors, Managers and Direct Reports as warranted.
• Participate in the marketing creation of sales promotion (internally and externally) for the laboratory and SHUSA clients as required.
• Collaborate with SHUSA Leadership on disaster response and business continuity planning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• MD
• Board Certified in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology.
• Additional certification/ training/ experience in Molecular Pathology strongly desired.
• 10+ years experience needed
