About us

SWVS is a locally owned mixed practice employing 20 vets. We have a dedicated team of 6 farm vets and amazing farm clients. We have a strong dairy sector with an average herd size of 430. Our farmers are motivated, engaged and great to work with. We have a dedicated Farm office that provides support to our teams on the road. They have great local knowledge and good relationships with our farmers.

Qualifications & experience

• Formal qualifications preferred
• Experience is required for some aspects of this role but not all. Training can be provided.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Scanning – Our ideal candidate is experienced in bovine pregnancy scanning
• Teatsealing trailer – experience preferred but we offer training and yearly refreshers. Towing and reversing a trailer reversing is important! We have protocols and standards for how and where we operate out trailer.
• In shed dry off protocols, intra-mammary treatments and treatment recording
• Calf disbudding – we use a gold standard protocol only, under sedation with local and pain relief
• Lab work – spore counting, blood sampling, running in house diagnostics, milk sample collection and culture
• Reproductive work – metrichecking, non-cycler treatments, synchrony, AI if you have the skills!
• Planned animal health treatments, vaccinations, bolus administration, weights, BCS (if certified)
