Job Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
As a professional level human resource advisor provides guidance to employees and managers concerning all areas of employee relations. Recommending corrective and disciplinary actions; advises on consistent level of discipline and other adverse actions. Completes and tracks all levels of employee discipline.
Advices supervisors and management regarding employee work performance/behavior issues and underlying employee personal and performance issues. Assists employees in understanding their responsibilities and rights, and advises on dealing with workplace problems in a productive manner. Develop and conduct employee relations training to employees and managers.
Administers extended medical leaves (including medical leave without pay), light duty requests, return to work, and medically related separations. Advises employees on the FMLA program to include answering any questions concerning FMLA. Advises management on employee medical issues. Provides guidance or refers the state’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) when needed.
Investigates, prepares documentation, recommends agency positions on grievances, complaints and appeals. Performs internal investigations into workplace violence allegations, mistreatment of employees, hostile work, misuse of state property, etc.
Consults with the Civil Rights (CRO) to ensure employee fairness and consistency; nondiscriminatory treatment of employees, and determination of workplace accommodations. Assists the CHRO as needed on discrimination complaints and investigations.

Selective Preference(s):
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred. Work experience may be substituted for degree on a 1:1 year basis.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete and sign PART 1 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate’s motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.11 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
