Job Description
Manage the operation of the Field Services Central Regional Team staff in its function of providing consistent, timely and accurate resolutions of desktop computing issues /projects to all State of Michigan employees and partners. This includes setting priorities, directing operational activities and ensuring that quality desktop computing services are provided to customers of the Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Two or more years experience in an IT Help desk/call center is preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of labor relations.
Ability to allocate resources, implement management control, evaluate processes and procedures to implement creative and innovative solutions to complex problems.
Shift management experiences a plus.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a certificate in information systems, data processing, electronics technology, mainframe operations, or microcomputer systems gained through completion of a one-year college level curriculum.
Experience
One year of experience as an Information Technology Technician 10.
OR
Two years of experience as an Information Technology Technician 9.
Alternate Education and Experience
Significant on-the-job, or other technical training that can be shown to provide the required knowledge of information systems equivalent to that gained through completion of a one-year college level curriculum may be substituted for the post-secondary
certificate.
Possession of an associate’s degree in information systems, data processing, electronics technology, or microcomputer systems may be substituted for one year of information technology technician work experience.

Leave Time
Full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation days per year. Employees also receive 13 sick days per year and 8 hours of leave to participate in certain school functions or community activities. Employees may also qualify for up to 12 weeks of paid or unpaid leave for certain family or medical situations.
Holidays
State employees receive 12 or 13 scheduled paid holidays each year, including New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day.

Insurance and Other Benefits
Eligible employees can choose from a variety of health insurance plans, including a PPO, HMOs, and a High Deductible Health Plan with HSA (effective January 1, 2021). Other coverage includes vision, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, as well as tax-deferred Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for health, prescription, dental and vision eligible expenses, dependent care expenses, and Qualified Transportation Fringe Benefits (QTFB). Employees also have the option to purchase additional life, accidental death, and long-term care insurance, auto/home insurance, identify theft protection, and legal services.
Paid Parental Leave
Provides eligible individuals up to 12 weeks of paid leave immediately following birth or adoption of a child.
Deferred Compensation
Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks.
Retirement
Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%. The Office of Retirement Services administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: Defined Benefit (DB) (https://www.michigan.gov/orsstatedb) and Defined Contribution (DC) (https://www.michigan.gov/orsstatedc) . New hires can also receive up to a 2% employer match into a Personal Healthcare Fund and a lump-sum credit to a tax-deferred account if eligible.
