State of Michigan Hiring for Library Assistant 5-E7 at Manistee, MI Full Time

The Library Assistant is responsible for assisting the Librarian in the operation of the institutions general and law library at the Facility. The position includes the supervision of inmate workers and prisoner legal writers, as well as supervising inmate library users. The library assistant uses sound judgement in providing an institutional library which meets department and library standards. Serves as support staff for a two-person unit, including the Librarian and Library Assistant. The position is physically located within the confines of the security perimeter of a State prison.

Required Education and Experience

Education level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

Library Assistant 5

No specific type or amount is required.

Library Assistant 6

One year of experience equivalent to a Library Assistant 5.

Library Assistant E7

Two years of experience equivalent to a Library Assistant, including one year equivalent to a Library Assistant 6.

Additional Requirements and Information

The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted to a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
