JOB SUMMARY:

The essential function of this position is to provide hospice nursing and palliative care to terminally ill patients. The hospice nurse will ensure the highest level of care is provided to our patients as they transition to end-of- life care. Professionalism and compassion are essential to success in this role.

SHIFT: Nights (7pm-7am)

DUTIES:

• Participates in assessment of patients and assists in the coordination, implementation and evaluation of care for patients and their families.

• Provides emotional support and informal counseling to patients and families within the hospice philosophy.

• Provides direct supervision to nursing assistants, and volunteers.

• Responsible for accurate documentation of medical records according to established guidelines

  QUALIFICATIONS:

• RN licensure in the State of Maryland

• Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification

• Prior experience in hospice strongly preferred

• Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) a plus
