Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Joining our Data and Digital team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to the Database Administrators (DBAs) as well as expert database services across designated database systems.

Our team p[provides Database operational and development services across multiple platforms. Using individual skills our Database Administrators provide database services to various product and project teams alongside others in the wider Data and Digital Directorate.

Our team also provide support for existing systems ensuring they are at peak availability and performance. We pride ourselves on being customer centric and providing an exceptional service. As part of the overall services, we expect our Database Administrator’s to advise on the development of team and group work plans in conjunction with all members of Technology Services.

Mōu | About you

You’ll be someone with strong hands-on experience with multiple operating systems and other technologies across a wide range of platforms from on premise to cloud with the ability to extrapolate and apply knowledge gained from these to any environment.  These should include most of the following: expert DB2 RDBMS and related database skills, experience with database systems in Windows, Linux and AIX environments, Cloud infrastructure and Knowledge of scripting languages such as ksh and SQL script languages.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• RDBMS operational best practice knowledge and experience including database design, query design, performance optimisation, database tuning, business continuity, disaster recovery, security and capacity management and planning
• Good knowledge of privacy and security in relationship to database and IT services
• Broad understanding of IT Technologies and systems and how they relate to RDBMS and BI technologies
• Proven analytical skills and high attention to detail
• Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills
• 10+ years experience DB2 RDBMS technologies
• 7+ years experience in SQL or PostgreSQL
