We are seeking a highly motivated Administration Officer to join the vibrant and busy Medical Ward in Dunedin Hospital on a casual ‘as and when required’ basis. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to enter or re-enter the workforce, or for those who enjoy having the flexibility to fit your hours around other commitments.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

As an Administration Officer, you will be carrying out a wide range of administrative and reception duties and providing essential support to other staff members within the team. Your administrative tasks will include but are not limited to answering phones, reception cover, maintaining patient information (both electronically and in hard copy), database maintenance and ordering supplies. It is essential that you are warm, welcoming and able to remain calm under pressure.

We are looking for a new team member to join us on a casual ‘as and when required’ basis to provide valuable annual leave or sick leave cover, or just when we are super busy and need an extra pair of capable hands. It is therefore important that you have a degree of flexibility and are able to pick up shifts often at short notice.

You must be a team player with very good communication skills, who understands and appreciates the need for attention to detail. You must also be comfortable interacting with a variety of people and attending to issues that arise – usually at the same time! We ask that in your application you demonstrate how your previous work experience in administration and/or customer service roles has honed your ability to prioritise and juggle tasks, within demanding timeframes.

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA South Island Clerical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Band 3C which falls between Step 1 ($28.58) and Step 3 ($30.67) per hour (plus 8% gross taxable earnings in lieu of annual leave) placement is based on previous skills and experience.
