Mō te tūranga | About the role

This position carries a varied workload, working to strict deadlines and fundamental to this position is your ability to uphold confidential patient information.

As the Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support for clinicians, as well as the management of patient activity. You will also ensure that the patient journey through the service is as stress free as possible, and is efficient in time and resource for the department.

Other Day to day tasks include but are not limited to, Setting up and maintaining effective electronic and paper filing systems and procedures, organising patient pathways from actioning triaged referrals, booking clinics and surgeries along with any further follow up required, secretarial work for medical staff, medical transcription work and general administration such as running reports, meetings, sorting correspondence, liaising with external parties such as patients, GP’s, private practices and other providers and medical transcription work.

Your background will be in varied administration positions that demonstrate your ability to provide high quality administration services within a busy office setting.

To succeed in this role you will need to have:

• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.
• A flexible approach with the ability to successfully prioritise your workload
• Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
• Excellent computer skills: proven experience in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook with the ability to learn other job specific programmes.

Utu whānui | Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA South Island Cerical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Band 4A between Step 1 $64,903 and Step 3 $67,787 p.a pro rata dependant on relevant experience.
