University College (UC) is a central unit in the Provost’s portfolio that is responsible for assuring the quality, effectiveness, and staffing of academic programs and courses offered at Temple’s regional campuses (Ambler, Center City and Harrisburg), centers, and other off-site locations.
Reporting to the Vice Provost, University College and working in close collaboration with University partners, the Marketing Director is responsible for the marketing direction and the outcomes of all subunits of University College. Â The Marketing Director will lead, create and oversee marketing/advertising and communications strategy and operations across University College.
Marketing touchpoints for University College include admissions, recruitment, yield/enrollment; branding; advertising; and communications. Â Messaging platforms include email, print, web, social media, PR, and signage and wayfinding.
The Marketing Director will tell the University College story, sharing impactful, relevant, and engaging narratives about Temple’s regional campuses; academic and non-credit programs; University College units including the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University and the Temple Ambler Field Station; as well as students and alumni, faculty and staff.
The Marketing Director will plan, lead, and oversee the execution of all marketing/advertising/communications strategies and operations across University College to meet short and long-term objectives. Oversees content generation for all University College units. Takes charge of a marketing and communications team located across Temple’s three regional campuses. Establish performance goals; build a highly functioning, cohesive unit, and ensure that each team member has the skills necessary to execute the College’s marketing and communication goals. Collaborates with Temple University’s Strategic Marketing and Communications (SM+C) department to ensure that all communications and publications adhere to the University’s strategic themes, brand and guidelines. Develops and expand a project management platform to ensure all marketing projects are completed on-time. Examines marketing campaigns and their various analytics for ROI and assessment purposes; produce annual reports. Oversees the University College marketing and communications budget that includes advertising expenses, invoice submissions and reconciliations with outside vendors and purchasing requests. Serves as the primary University College representative on a wide range of University Committees. Interfaces with external vendors on media buying and planning for digital and print campaigns, and oversee design, production, and direct mail operations for University College.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of directly related marketing experience preferably in higher education. Experience should include success in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies and marketing and promotional tools for outreach and recruitment. Â Prior experience supervising a team of specialists is required. Â An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Thorough understanding and practice with contemporary marketing approaches, including content marketing, social media, and digital storytelling
Demonstrated success in leading and implementing marketing initiatives (preferably in higher education) and ability to translate metrics into actions to improve product marketing effectiveness
Ability to think strategically and interpret data from diverse sources to recommend a course of action and improve marketing outcomes
Strong written and presentation skills, including proven ability to edit and proofread
Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including assigning work, setting direction, and using a strengths-based approach to feedback
Demonstrated project management skills and abilit to collaborate, multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of administrators, faculty and staff across University College and Temple University
Demonstrated competence with Microsoft Office and graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign to create effective marketing materials
Knowledge of web content managements tools/platforms and SEM/SEO/Google Analytics
Ability to stay current on trends, Â and functions as they relate to continuing education, non-traditional learners, regional campuses, and non-credit programs
Budget experience
Experience working with media buying/planning and brand-level advertising and outside vendors
Strong attention to detail
Experience with CRM systems preferred
Ability to travel to offsite locations that may not be accessible via public transportation
Preferred:
*Master’s degree
