Our client operates 14 different crisis hotlines, including a suicide prevention program and the largest metropolitan crisis contact center in the country. The organization is a national and local leader in developing and implementing innovative new approaches to providing behavioral health services and interventions via telephone, web chat, and SMS text message, and other technologies designed to support emotional health and wellness. The Vice President for crisis helpline has the exciting opportunity to join the organization during a time of organizational and broader mental health system transformation. Building on our client’s leadership overseeing a suicide prevention program, the VP of the crises helpline, a senior management position, will support the strategy and operational leadership for the helpline. This crises helpline is a network of almost 200 independently owned crisis centers across the country. Primary responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of the program including: (a) coordinating the supervision of senior leaders of all helpline Divisions; b) collaborating with other Our client departments including IT, Finance, Communications, etc. c) interfacing with external partners and stakeholders.
Program Leadership: Responsible for the scaling, integration, quality, and impact of the suiside & crises prevention helpline. Lead scaling and implementation of the helpline to meet agency goals and vision. Provide outreach, communications and representation at events for the hepline and/or Our client Emotional Health; meet with high-level stakeholders and provide media interviews as needed. Lead the development of major grant/contract proposals and programmatic reports. Delegate decision-making and responsibility to the appropriate level, providing the information, guidance and direction, as needed.
Team Leadership: Identify and cultivate leadership; work with crises helpline department heads and Our client human resources department to enable and reinforce excellence in worker performance and develop pathways for career growth in the organization.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture nationwide, statewide and local partnerships to advance organizational goals and objectives. Assure that all helpline advisory committees (Steering Committee, Standards/Trainings/Practices Committee, Equity & Belonging Committee, etc.) are regularly convened and processes are in place to appropriately integrate their feedback into strategic planning and programmatic approaches.
Financial Oversight: Assure close coordination between helpline budgets across suicide & crises prevention departments and Our client’s Finance Department to prepare annual budgets and comply with Federal reporting deadlines and requirements.
Quality Improvement: Assure close coordination between staff and systems measuring helpline clinical/operations performance with Our client’s QI Department to efficiently comply with Federal reporting requirements. Assure that all hepline departments adhere to a performance-based management approach utilizing key performance indicators to make data driven decisions that enhance clinical quality and operational efficiencies.

Program Leadership: Minimum of ten years of large-scale government-funded program management experience. Demonstrated skills in successfully leading and managing public health/mental health/crisis programs with federal, state or county/city reporting requirements. Ability to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Ability to interpret and manage program budgets.
Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience in identifying and developing leaders to make meaningful contributions that have led to programmatic success. Demonstrated ability to effectively foster teamwork to collaboratively set goals and resolve problems, while also enabling processes to foster accountable and efficient decision-making. Behavioral Health Expertise: Experience and extensive knowledge of behavioral health crisis and/or suicide prevention services, from both a clinical and operations perspective. A minimum of 5 years management experience in mental health/suicidal crisis intervention service, preferably as a Director, with crises helpline center member experience a plus.
Change Leadership: Experience leading the evolution of systems and processes to advance program change during times of growth. Experience engaging with diverse staff and leadership to promote trust, teamwork, collaboration, and engagement across departments and levels of staff as a diplomatic and effective influencer.
