Our pioneering programme, Experience Works, puts students in the job for a week. They work together in teams to make decisions that would come up in the jobs of our staff. Most importantly, as our programme is entirely remote, we are able to offer this experience to students from all over the UK!
The Blair Partnership is a literary and entertainment agency.
Our work experience programme offers students the opportunity to step into the shoes of one of our agents for the week.
When: 8th – 12th August 2022 (10am-5pm daily)
Who: Year 11 & 12 students interested in learning about working in a literary agency
What you need to participate: computer with Zoom and Microsoft Teams
At the start of the week, students are split into groups and asked to choose which of the 3 submissions they’d like to represent.
Over the first four days they go on to hear from a range of subject matter experts across: agency, international rights, legal & contracts, royalties, marketing, product development and digital publishing.
Interspersed with the webinars are periods of group work, where the students work together on making the decisions that will ultimately inform their publishing plan for their chosen book.
On the final day, students will hone their presentations ahead of going before our panel of judges to share their ideas.
Throughout the programme, each team is supported by 2 members of our staff who act as mentors, guiding the team through the week, answering questions and acting as a trial audience for their presentations.
Over the course of the week, students can expect to learn:
And so much more!
Come and spend a week in our shoes!
