About the role

The Corporate Strategy team works front and center in defining the best path forward for our company.We are responsible for developing Gap Inc.’s overall strategy, identifying organic and inorganic growth opportunities, and driving customer-centric initiatives across our stores and digital channels.
The Corporate Strategy team reports to the Chief Information Officer / Head of Strategy, and provides strategic support to our CEO and Leadership Team. We partner with the C-level and Brand Presidents, as well as other strategy leaders across the company.
As Director of Corporate Strategy, you will be reporting into the Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, and in charge of driving critical projects to advance our priorities, growth and long-range plans. You will be asked to mentor and lead team members through Corporate and Brand strategic efforts, including special projects for the CEO and Senior Leadership Team. Your goal is to drive long-term, value-creating opportunities through deep partnership with leaders and stakeholders across the company.
What you’ll do
Drive Gap Inc. corporate strategy initiatives, including: Identifying key issues, structuring problems, developing and delivering on workplans that drive value creation across Gap Inc. brands, performing quantitative and qualitative analysis, including analyzing data, creating financial models, and conducting market and competitive research, synthesizing findings, developing a storyline and the supporting materials to communicate recommendations to Senior Management and Leadership Team
Serve as a strategic partner as Gap Inc. leadership team and Brands develop annual Long Range Plans.
Work with cross-functional teams to help drive strategies from inception through execution.
Act as a thought partner and liaison with business partners across Gap Inc., ensuring alignment of strategic priorities across organic and inorganic initiatives
Serve as a mentor for more junior team members to support work planning, hypotheses generation, issue identification, analytical framework development, and career development/growth
Who you are
7-10 years of professional work experience, ideally 2-3 years with a top-tier management consulting firm and experience working at a retail / apparel brand.
Able to translate complex ideas and dispersed information into simple, actionable recommendations
Demonstrated track record as an outstanding problem-solver and strategic thinker – able to work in the details and click-up a level to grasp the “big picture”
Comfort with analytical and financial modeling, ability to work with large / complex data sources, and understanding of how to link strategy to implementation / financial plans
Very strong project and process management skills, including ability to independently disaggregate problems into defined workplans and drive change management and project manage critical initiatives
Self-starting and independent project manager – able to define workplans, drive work, and report on status and results across multiple projects
Very strong written and oral communicator with proven ability to connect with senior executives
Experience managing and developing more junior talent
Strong ability and willingness to collaborate effectively – a true team player
MBA a plus
