Job Purpose:

• To support the Education Development team in its function to develop processes, policies and associated documents that will enable the Education Operations team to deliver the General Optical Council’s (GOC) education activities.
• The role will contribute to the consultation, design, pilot and implementation of new processes and policies and will include the creation of relevant documentation and supporting/guidance documents.
• The role will include effective governance of processes including accurate document recording, version control, regular review and the gathering of feedback and lessons learned.
• The role holder will work collaboratively with the Education Operations team, gathering feedback and incorporating this in the design and testing of policies, processes and associated documentation.
• As part of testing and piloting new processes, the role holder may need to carry out activities (physically or remotely) at education providers across the UK and may require weekend working / travelling on occasion.
• The role holder will support staff, education visitors and providers by contributing to the creation of guidance and training documentation as well as coordinating and delivering training which may be during an event or workshop.
• The role will involve regular internal and external stakeholder engagement including the gathering of feedback, delivering events and workshops, dealing with and responding to queries and composing updates and communications.

Key Accountabilities:

• Work collaboratively with the Education Operations team to design, test and implement policies, processes and associated documentation and training of education department projects.
• Conduct new and ongoing quality assurance activities (remotely/physically) for providers who offer, or intend to offer, GOC approved qualifications (when applicable).
• Gather feedback and analyse data to identify and escalate any operational and/or regulatory risks, suggest areas requiring review and use feedback to inform changes, produce ad-hoc reports (including recommendations on the findings).
• Participate and contribute to stakeholder engagement and training activities, with a range of stakeholders (including internal colleagues, senior management, education providers, education visitors and GOC Committees).
• Ensure that queries and issues raised, both internally and externally, on matters relating to education projects or processes are quickly and effectively resolved.
• Contribute to the coordination and delivery of stakeholder meetings and events such as EVP and provider workshops. This will include supporting the creation of agendas, content and follow-up work as well as delivering content when necessary.
• Ensure that statistical and KPI data is accurately maintained for reporting purposes and that education visitor panel (EVP) work logs are kept up to date.

Essential Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications:

• Relevant degree and/or education quality assurance knowledge and experience.
• Well-developed understanding of higher and further education, assessment/awarding bodies, (degree) apprenticeships and career frameworks and interface with professional / statutory body programme accreditation and qualification approval processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders with excellent presentation / verbal communications skills.
• Ability to analyse and assimilate complex information and produce evidence-based arguments.
• Excellent written communication skills, with an ability to write clearly, precisely, and accessibly on complex issues, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience of managing multiple workflows and project outputs simultaneously.
• Embraces team-working, collaboration and negotiating with colleagues to deliver communications objectives.
• Excellent IT skills, including Word and Excel.
