nAbout the Department n

The BSD Information Security Office (ISO) is dedicated to providing information security services and expert security guidance to all members of the BSD research and academic enterprise. The ISO’s mission is to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of BSD information assets and data, in accordance with organizational policies and applicable state and federal laws, as efficiently as possible. The job performs a variety of activities in the development, implementation, and maintenance of information security. Monitors security defense and identity management technologies and maintains existing infrastructure. Responds to cyber security incidents and escalates as needed. Identifies and evaluates risks to the organization, evaluates, develops, and deploys appropriate security solutions.

The job performs a variety of activities in the development, implementation, and maintenance of information security. Monitors security defense and identity management technologies and maintains existing infrastructure. Responds to minor cyber security incidents and escalates as needed. Identifies and evaluates risks to the organization.

nResponsibilities n
n
n
+ Perform risk assessments on mission critical information systems or business processes.
n
+ Develop remediation plans to address identified risks and vulnerabilities.
n
+ Facilitate risk management governance meetings to gain organizational approval of remediation plans.
n
+ Track progress on remediation of identified risks and vulnerabilities and provide appropriate reporting and metrics.
n
+ Develop security policies, standards, procedures, checklists, and guidelines tailored to meet the requirements of the organization.
n
+ Analyze and understand threat intelligence information and how it might impact the organization.
n
+ With moderate direction from others, performs procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems. Monitors system activity and identifies potential threats. Responds to detected and reported security violations.
n
+ Researches, recommends, and implements changes to procedures and systems to enhance data systems security.
n
+ Communicates with users to understand their security needs and supports the implementation of procedures to accommodate them. Ensures that user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security.
n
+ Performs other related work as needed.

nEducation: n
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience: n
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

+ Bachelor of Science in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Science and Security
n
nExperience: n
n
n
+ Experience in Information Technology with a focus on cyber security.
n
+ Limited experience of one or more of the following technologies: (GRC)LockPath, Vun Scanning (Qualys, Siem (QRadar), Next Gen EDR (CS).
n
+ Experience completing risk assessments and responding to cyber threats.
n
+ Understanding of server and application administration.
n
+ Understanding of data communication concepts and network/software configuration management.
n
+ Direct experience providing customer service.
n
