Responsibilities:

• Responsible for overall relationship (including senior level relationship coordination) and overall account management at allocated large European, Global or strategic customers.
• Achieve or exceed sales and margin/profit targets for allocated accounts by driving delivery of share of wallet, new business opportunities and portfolio development.
• Responsible for all account development activities including account strategy development, execution and management.
• Responsible for communication of value proposition and value-added programs and services; resource coordination; price and profitability management; RFP strategy.
• Lead the RFP or contract renewal strategy, internal proforma process, and customer presentation. This may include presentations to the VP of Sales and the President of RSD Europe.
• Effectively communicate with field sales teams to ensure tactical execution of account sales plan.
• Manage multiple segment-specific customers; may have strategic business development customers as well.
• Develop and maintain relationships at senior levels in customers, RSD, Thermo Fisher and suppliers.
• Coordinates and communicates business development initiatives and strategies
• Identifies target profitability, terms and conditions
• Creates and manages the account strategy and implementation plan
• Conducts business reviews with customers

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• A degree level education is essential, in Science (Microbiology or Chemistry)
• Substantial knowledge and relevant work experience at a senior level; strong background in science and the specific industry segment
• A strong sales record with the ability to demonstrate a high level of business acumen and a clear understanding of the sales & key account management role
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and grow senior level customer relationships across multiple areas like Sourcing, Production, Research, Materials Management
• Significant and relevant experience across a wide range of sectors including pharmaceutical, industrial and academic segments would be an advantage, particularly where there is a sound understanding of the current marketplace for laboratory equipment, consumables and/or chemicals.
• Strong strategic selling, financial analysis, negotiation, and project management skills
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a must; contact management software a plus
• English language: Full professional proficiency in addition to another European language ideally.
• Full drivers license with the ability to travel extensively within the region (>80% of time as an indicator) and also to attend regional and national meetings.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• An ability to deliver a comprehensive value proposition to meet customer needs which includes all relative components of the company’s capabilities.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint a must, sales force automation software a plus.
• Outgoing and confident personality, able to effectively engage with customers across a range of settings including one-to-one meetings, exhibitions and formal presentations, across all sectors in which we operate.

• This Role operates within a Matrix environment requiring the post holder to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, to manage both competing requirements and concurrent project activity. Strong project, organisational skills, time and stakeholder management competency is therefore essential to maintain several priorities and meet established deadlines.
