The opportunity
The Senior Java Software Engineer supports the development team in effectively delivering design, development and ongoing maintenance of products and systems to support tactical and strategic business initiatives. This role will require you to be highly responsive to specific requests of internal and external stakeholders will be essential. You will be required to identify resource and time requirements of requested work to contribute to project plans and timelines. It will be important to keep a pragmatic approach and maintain key system design fundamentals.
Responsibilities
- Providing application requirement analysis, solution design and specification on key systems
- Undertake development on key systems, this would also involve providing support to business applications
- Convert high-level scope of concepts, requirements and designs into working software and system implementation
- Collaborate with various business stakeholders, project managers, business analysts & other developers achieving high standards in project delivery and post-development software support
- Verify and advise on work requests to generate clearly defined and viable requirements on outcomes that fits the intended business strategy
- Manage daily tasks and project responsibilities to ensure work is completed consistent with assigned priorities and deadlines
- Work with relevant team members to develop test methodology, schedule and cases and to ensure all live changes are accurate
- Mentor and train junior team members to support on-going professional development within the team
Knowledge and experience
- Extensive experience in developing applications in an enterprise level environment
- Experience in integrating, customising and supporting commercial off-the-shelf software
- Experience in self-service portals and fulfilment systems
- Experience with the following tools/technologies:
- Workflow/Orchestration Engines (BPEL and BPMN)
- Java
- Spring Framework
- Databaase Oracle, MySQL
- Data transport XML/JSON
- Back end technologies (SOAP and REST)
- GitLab and ELK
