The School of Social Practice at Unitec teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Counselling, Social Work and Community Development. We recognise inequality as the source of many of the problems facing our communities, and we have an explicit commitment to social justice.

We are looking for a Lecturer – Social Practice to join our team of experienced Social Practice educators committed to excellence in education and student success who can support our goal to be innovative and responsive to the exciting challenges of tertiary education and the Social Practice industry.

Based at our Waitakere Campus in Henderson, we are seeking a Lecturer to teach in our Social Practice programme, which serves a diverse and mature student population. We require an experienced professional within the field of Social Practice, preferably having four or more years’ experience in practice and with preference but not essential with teaching experience.

You’ll Have

• An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori
• Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
• A Master’s qualification or currently enrolled in a Master’s programme.
• A current Social Work Registration Practicing certificate.
• Relevant discipline-based practice contribution
• At least five years’ experience in the field/Social Services.
• Show a commitment to excellence in learning and teaching and providing a high-quality educational experience for students
• A commitment to social justice and experience in working with diversity
• Have a demonstrable application of Ako and Ngāti tukana/Ngati Teina and to be part of a supportive research-active team
• Te Tiriti based practitioner
• Migrant & Immigration focus lecturer – Preferable but not essential.
• Background in Social Practice with Migrant & Refugee
• Background in Child Protection & Family Violence
• Teaching experience essential
