£50,000 – £55,000 a year
The role
If you believe that all children should have an excellent education, regardless of background or location, and want to be part of a team who believe technology can help to make that a reality, United Learning has an exciting opportunity for you. This is a home-based role with a requirement to travel to schools within the Group as well as our offices when the role requires it; normally between 2 and 4 days a week.
Reporting to the Director of IT, this post will focus on how technology can enhance teaching and learning, developing Group edtech policy and practice, supporting and advising schools in the development of their Digital Strategy, developing training resources and working with the rest of the department to remove barriers to learning. The Group has ambitious targets for all its schools to have developed and implemented a digital strategy within the next few years.
This role provides the opportunity to work with our independent schools, who have successfully rolled out 1:1 programmes, through to academies beginning the development of ambitious digital strategies. Each school and phase need different levels of support and guidance. The Group uses Microsoft Office365 across all schools and all have now transitioned to cloud MIS as well. We have recently provided over 20,000 Chromebooks to academies to support pupils’ learning during the pandemic lockdowns and are currently redeploying them in various modes. Many of the Group’s independent schools have mature cultures of digitally-enhanced teaching and learning, featuring the use of Apple technologies. A growing number of academies in the Group have invested in Windows tablets for teachers and are being supported by their Educational Technologists to realise the benefits these can bring to lessons, and to enhance the way teachers work through tools such as OneNote and Teams.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable and credible working in both the primary and secondary phases, although may only have direct experience of one.
United Learning values diversity and inclusion and is committed to creating and sustaining a more ethnically diverse workforce. In this regard we would not only welcome applications from professionals of minority ethnic origin, but from majority ethnic professionals who share our commitment. We will be applying the Rooney Rule to the shortlisting process.
