About the role

The Education Studies Programme is based at the world-leading IOE. This highly rated interdisciplinary degree draws on history, philosophy, sociology, and psychology to provide students with the critical tools necessary to reflect on education, society and culture and to become leaders of social and political change. Our degree bridges the social sciences and the humanities, supporting students to gain an interdisciplinary understanding of education, and of the ways in which humans develop and flourish throughout their lives. We are looking to appoint an Associate Lecturer to teach on, and lead, existing modules on the BA Education Studies degree programme. The appointee will undertake seminar teaching and marking, and may also supervise undergraduate dissertations. In particular during the 2022-3 academic year, we expect the successful candidate to lead the year 2 compulsory module ‘Policy and Politics in Education’, and to contribute seminar teaching to the year 2 optional module ‘Children in Society’. You will be required to make a significant contribution to the teaching of the BA Education Studies programme. You will be at the forefront of international developments in learning and teaching, including distance learning, and innovative assessment methodologies. In addition, you will pursue academic excellence through a continuing commitment to academic, professional and personal development. About you

You will have a doctorate in Education or in a cognate discipline in the social sciences or humanities, and will demonstrate evidence of a strong background in teaching in the field of Education and/or related areas in the social sciences or humanities. You will have a proven track record of teaching successfully at higher education level, and ability to bring innovation and research into teaching and curriculum development and design at all levels. In addition, it is required in this post that you have worked with students from diverse contexts and cultural backgrounds.
