Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Receptionist with a warm and welcoming personality to join our fun, collaborative and high performing teams. The main purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality, client-focused services for both Career Development and Employability Services (CDES) and Campus Life. This position offers variety and challenge, with plenty of opportunity for development.

CDES assists students and graduates to develop their capabilities to successfully self-manage and navigate their world of work, life and learning. This helps them realise their potential, be positive contributors to local, national and global communities, and move towards a personally determined and evolving future.

Campus Life is a Service Division that supports an engaging and inclusive campus experience for students at the University of Auckland. It operates a range of wellbeing services, such as Accommodation, Counselling and Health Services, aimed at removing personal barriers to academic success. It also operates engagement services such as support for student organisations, social and sporting programmes, volunteering and leadership support.

Key accountabilities include:

• Being the first point of contact for staff, students and visitors to KEIC Level one (Campus Life and Career Development & Employability Services)
• Being able to “think on your feet” when responding to enquiries from staff, student and the public
• Ability to prioritise and escalate issues as required.
• Providing administrative support as required.

The salary range for this role is $41,000 – $44,400 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent role.

Who are we looking for:

• A positive person with outstanding interpersonal skills, to provide professional and customer-focussed reception services.
• Previous experience in a reception or customer service role is essential.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are required, as well as a high standard of computer literacy.
• You will also be well organised, systematic and have excellent time management skills.
• Previous experience in administration, software, office systems and processes (advantageous).

Whilst some daily responsibilities will provide a certain amount of predictably, a portion of the role will require quick-thinking, prioritisation and sound decision making, in order to effectively manage daily issues as they arise.
