Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
This is an opportunity to join the Research & Innovation (R&I) team in a unique and varied role, as part of its end-to-end services that facilitate and support research and innovation at UC.
The role provides professional advice, guidance, and support around contracting services that optimise R&I’s services from initial funding to commercialisation. This includes the establishment of contracts, monitoring the performance of contracts, processing contract variations and maintaining financial oversight and financial reporting internally and externally.
The Research Contracts Advisor will work closely with the post-award team, academic staff, Colleges, Financial Services and the wider Research & Innovation team to fulfil this role. The Research Contracts Advisor will also work closely with external organisations and funders.
Mōu | Who You Are
You have experience in a senior administration role and providing advice to relevant parties on policies and procedural guidelines.
You have experience with contracting, risk management, managing intellectual property and ideally procurement. You understand budget formulation, basic accounting practices, and how to use databases.
As each contract is different and there is a high level or risk, you must have an eye for detail, can problem solve and follow process to execute multiple tasks efficiently.

The role of Research & Innovation is to provide end-to-end services which facilitate and support all stages of research and innovation development, from initial funding through to commercialisation, where appropriate. Research & Innovation provides support and assistance to the University’s academic staff in their quest for research funding and other support. The unit is the University’s liaison with funding bodies, industry and business, and oversees all contracts relating to research, consultancy and commercialisation.
The friendly Research & Innovation team supports and provides over-arching vision and leadership within UC’s award-winning and prestigious research arena. As a team we work collaboratively and are skilled in creative thinking to build national and international linkages for fundamental and applied research.
