Facilities and Operations in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts (LSA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Mover I to join our LSA Moving and Support Services team. As the undergraduate heart of one of the nation’s premier public research universities, the College offers a vast array of opportunities for learning and research both within the traditional disciplines and in interdisciplinary programs, along with a range of resources that perennially attract the strongest students, staff and faculty. The College offers more than 100 degree programs in over 75 academic departments and programs. The Mover I position is a key part of our LSA Moving and Support Services Team that will assist the needs of multiple units and will support the operations and maintenance of classrooms across LSA. This role requires a motivated individual with excellent customer service skills, a strong sense of self-motivation, and a demonstrated ability to work in teams.

Move office, department and apartment furniture such as desks, cabinets, stoves, refrigerators and beds.
Stage classroom furniture and equipment.
Configure, disassemble and reassemble furniture.
Assemble and install partitions, whiteboards, keyboard trays etc.
Move large Dewar flasks such as liquid helium, nitrogen or other gas mixtures.
Transport stock and equipment.
Operate motor vehicles such as vans, pick-ups, and single unit (box) trucks.
Provide customer service to department standards.
Clean assigned area of work and equipment.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be able to read and write English
Must be able to lift items over 50lbs
Must have valid driver’s license
Must be able to pass DOT exam within three months
Must have previous experience working on furniture and seating in an educational setting, including the ability to configure, disassemble and reassemble office furniture
Must be able to demonstrate previous experience using power tools.
One year of experience in classroom support related positions
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Staff and Faculty
Extensive knowledge of College of LSA facilities and classrooms
Past experience using a variety of power and hand tools
Knowledge of moving office equipment and furniture
Experience working in a team concept
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
