ClassCivil Service About the Job The YHHL has been awarded the Robert
Wood Johnson Foundation’s Systems for Action grant to engage an
existing multi-sector consortium to develop, implement and assess the
feasibility of an integrated system of healthcare and public health
programming for youth experiencing homelessness (YEH) in and around
Hennepin County, Minnesota. We are looking to hire a Project Manager to
work directly on this year-long project, beginning in January 2023.
Building off of the Lab’s current work, this project will: Engage an
existing multi-sector consortium, as well as YEH, to develop and
implement an integrated system of public health programming and health
services for YEH in and around Hennepin County. Describe the complex
barriers to data systems alignment in the current systems, and beginning
to identify potential opportunities for systems alignment to create a
more equitable data ecosystem Assess the feasibility of implementing
and, if successful, scaling an integrated system of public health
programming and health services for youth experiencing homelessness.
This position will manage the process and outcome of this project. This
position provides an opportunity for Masters-level graduate students to
gain experience working on community-partnered public health efforts and
could be developed to meet requirements for students’ Applied Practice
Experiences (APEx) and/or Integrated Learning Experiences (ILEs). Please

Responsibilities: Assist with and lead project management tasks for
project, including developing a project management plan, setting
internal deadlines, coordinating team meetings, taking meeting minutes
and other project management tasks (20%) Help host a series of two
community-engaged consensus-building sessions to collectively digest the
data from the needs assessment and systems mapping process and then
propose a plan for an integrated system of public health programming and
health services for YEH (10%) Participate in recruiting and conducting
informed consent with youth experiencing homelessness and staff at
youth-serving agencies and assist in conducting youth focus groups to
review and solicit feedback on the proposed plan for the integrated
system (15%) Produce and manage project deliverables: (15%) Integrated
system plan proposal Conduct interviews Adaptation mechanisms based on
feedback and implementation Schedule, coordinate and help facilitate
meetings with key community and cross-sector partners (10%) Lead data
management for the project, including data entering survey results,
de-identifying and uploading qualitative transcripts from interviews and
focus groups, and managing the quantitative and qualitative datasets
(10%) Supervise and direct Research Assistants (2) working on this
project (5%) Attend YHHL team and project meetings (5%) Assist with
academic and community dissemination of project results, including
presentations and publications (10%) Centering Justice, Equity and
Inclusion: The team has prepared a Team Equity and Positionality
Statement, which describes an approach to centering equity in this work.

team will aim to reflect the rich diversity of the youth and communities
with whom we work. BIPOC youth and youth identifying as LGBTQ are
over-represented among youth experiencing homelessness, compounding
existing disparities related to historic marginalization and structural
racism. This team will work to ensure representation on the team from
people with lived experiences of homelessness, as well as people who
identify as BIPOC and LGBTQ. All team members wil be asked to reflect
on their intersecting identities and personal and professional
intentions relating to the project, and consider how those identities
and intentions influence their positionality in the context of this
work. The position will report to Dr. Janna Gewirtz O’Brien (Principal
Investigator) in conjunction with Meghan Ford (Youth Health and Housing
Lab Program Manager). Qualifications Required: Graduate Student at the
University of Minnesota or Master’s in Public Health Ability to work
virtually and synchronously during typical work days Commitment to
centering equity in this work and to creating an inclusive,
anti-oppressive, and safe work environment Strong verbal and written
communication skills Ability to connect with people and establish
effective working relationships with team members, youth and diverse
community partners Organized, responsible, and detail-oriented Takes
initiative, asks questions, clarifies directions and tasks as needed
Interest in working with youth Work independently with support from
supervisors and plan, organize, and prioritize workload in an efficient
and timely manner Preferred: Experience working with youth experiencing
homelessness or other youth who have experienced forms of
marginalization Experience in working on efforts related to adolescent
health Experience with project management Interest and experience in
community-engaged research Ability to conduct literature searches and
identify vital information for project efforts Comfort and proficiency
with computer programs such as: Canva, Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel,
PowerPoint, and/or database systems when doing data entry, analysis, and
management Multilingual in English and Spanish or Somali is preferred
About the Department The Youth Health and Housing Lab (YHHL) leads
community-engaged, cross-sector work at the intersection of housing,
healthcare and public health to optimize health and bolster resilience
among youth experiencing homelessness. Our interdisciplinary team, led
by Dr. Janna Gewirtz O’Brien, is housed within the Division of General
Pediatrics and Adolescent Health at the University of Minnesota School
of Medicine. We partner with Hennepin County, youth-serving agencies in
the Twin Cities area, healthcare institutions in the Twin Cities, and
