About the role
The Department for Continuing Education is seeking to appoint a Deputy Director (Education and Student Experience). This is a newly created, senior, position in one of the world’s leading universities and you will play a leading role in the development and implementation of the Department’s strategic ambitions.
Reporting directly to the Director of the Department, Professor Matthew Weait, you will lead on the Department’s taught provision, ensuring that it is both of the highest academic quality, accessible to the widest possible audience, and informed by our collective commitment to equality, diversity and inclusivity.
You will work closely with the Director and other senior colleagues to shape our academic offer across our award-bearing, open access and CPD courses. You will be committed to ensuring that our students have the best possible learning experience, and that those that wish to progress in their studies with the Department, the University, or elsewhere are provided with the opportunity to do so.
This is an exciting time in the history of the Department, and you will be key to ensuring that we remain true to our mission, vision, and values.
About you
You will have extensive experience at a senior level of, and expertise, in curriculum development and pedagogy (including online modes of delivery and assessment) in a university or other higher education provider, as well as delivering an excellent experience for students at UG and PGT levels. You will have an evidenced commitment to promoting and supporting equality, diversity and inclusion in learning, teaching and assessment. You will be able to negotiate with, build relationships, influence and communicate diplomatically and effectively to a diverse audience, have an ability and willingness to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, organising and prioritising work without the need for direct supervision, and to lead and manage complex strategic projects and meet deadlines.
