Focused on our new developments in Barrow, this post represents a key role in the delivery of the University of Cumbria’s student recruitment, outreach and widening participation access work in the South of Cumbria, with a specific focus on Barrow. You will be required to travel significantly to build targeted relationships and also to support activities of the wider recruitment team. In maintaining this workload, you will require flexibility of working patterns, overnight trips and working between our campuses.
This role requires an ability to build strong relationships with schools, colleges, community groups and other partners across the South of Cumbria and in particular the Barrow-in-Furness area. You will be part of a team of professionals across a number of campuses to manage, co-ordinate and participate in our engagement with schools, colleges, other education providers and community groups to drive student recruitment and empower the broadening of aspirations through widening participation access activity.
Your role will be responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of recruitment events at our brand new Barrow campus. These events include open days and applicant days. You would be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and attending external recruitment events across region and beyond where opportunities are identified.
Widening participation (WP) is a key priority for the University of Cumbria and you will make significant contributions towards achieving its corporate recruitment and widening participation targets, monitoring and reporting on our WP Access to external bodies such as the Office for Students.
You should be educated to degree level with a good knowledge of higher education. You should be committed to equal opportunities, widening participation and be able to communicate effectively. Previous experience of delivering WP/student recruitment activities, marketing or educational guidance would be an advantage and is preferred.
