The Bodleian Libraries is the largest university library system in the UK, holding more than 13 million printed items, over 80,000 e-journals and world-renowned special collections. The Libraries, in the heart of the University of Oxford, are a dynamic environment attracting researchers and learners from across the globe. This is an exciting time to join the team as we embark on a new Bodleian strategy working collaboratively with colleagues across the Gardens Libraries and Museums (GLAM) Division which includes the Ashmolean Museum and the Oxford Botanical Gardens and Arboretum.
Applications are invited for an Executive Officer to directly support Bodley’s Librarian and Head of Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM), who has a busy and varied portfolio, with many national and international commitments.
The Executive Officer will be responsible for managing and administering senior management meetings, working closely with managers to ensure actions are undertaken and monitored, providing regular update reports and generally fielding as much as possible from Bodley’s Librarian and Head of GLAM, enabling and supporting them to focus on the high level strategic issues and business development.
You will actively manage Bodley’s Librarian’s externally-funded projects portfolio which will lend itself to report writing and communication with sponsors and external funding bodies.
The post holder will manage the Directorate executive support team, ensuring consistently high-level administrative support across the collaborative GLAM function, dealing with competing priorities and an unpredictable and busy workload in an ever-changing environment.
You must be adept at working under pressure and to tight deadlines. Your written and oral communication skills will be superb, having an eye for detail and an awareness of the protocols appropriate for significant events and VIP visitors to the Bodleian and GLAM.
