The Bodleian Libraries are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hard-working individual to join the Sackler Library as a Visual Culture Librarian. The Sackler Library is the center for historically important collections in Art & Architecture collected by the Ashmolean Library from 1684. You will be based as part of a team also covering Archaeology, Egyptology and Ancient Near East Studies, Classics (including Classical Archaeology), and Numismatics.
You will work with readers in a number of internationally renowned departments of the University of Oxford providing library support and developing electronic and print collections for them.
You will principally work as part of the team of subject librarians in the Sackler Library where the main Art & Architecture collections are housed; Film Studies collections are currently held in the Taylor Institution Library and the English Faculty Library and will move to the new Library of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities in 2025.
You will have an informed appreciation of the study of Art and Film and be able to build on the strengths of our existing collections while addressing diversification in research interests and course content for students. You will be an engaging communicator capable of promoting research and information skills as well as furthering public engagement with your collections.
You will be a graduate with a professional library qualification or a higher degree combined with relevant library experience.
This is a permanent, part-time (0.7FTE) post working 26.25 hours per week over 4 or 5 days.
