The University of Sheffield’s School of Law is a large and diverse school with an international reputation for excellence in
research, for the expertise of its staff, and the achievement of its graduates. Our vision is to advance the inter-disciplinary
understanding of law, socio-legal studies and criminology, combining outstanding research with innovative research-led
teaching. Our internationalisation strategy has led to a global network of research and teaching links. We encourage all
undergraduate students to spend a year abroad with one of our partners, and we have structured all of our degree
programmes to facilitate this. The School’s civic engagement activities connect it with the city of Sheffield, and with partners
in the commercial, public and third sectors, nationally and internationally. The School’s wide-ranging pro bono work enriches
our students’ experience and promotes an ethic of service to justice shared by staff, student, alumni and other supporters of
the School.
You will join over 45 academic staff and a large professional support team. The total student body numbers around 1,200
undergraduates and 200 postgraduates. The School has a dedicated home in Bartolome House, a Grade II listed building,
close to the main campus and library with easy access to the centre of Sheffield. We believe in the power of diversity to help
us address global challenges and aim to actively build a diverse team. We particularly welcome applications from currently
under-represented groups, including candidates who are female and/or from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a
competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and
development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions
complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research,
teaching and student experience.
