About us: Student and Academic Services (SAS) is a large professional service supporting staff and students across the academic life cycle promoting the student experience. Our support services enable students to develop academically, professionally, and personally. SAS operate across all campuses delivering service excellence. It’s an exciting time to be joining SAS as we embark on significant transformational programs to enhance the student experience from enquiry, through study and to graduation and beyond. The service offers a range of experiences and supports the training and development of its staff.
Within SAS the Student Administration Team (SAT) plays an important role in managing the student record from registration through to graduation, including the assessment processes. Some examples of the tasks we are responsible for are: supporting students to register on a course; managing their assessments to ensure documentation is accurately prepared to be considered at examining boards; clerking various meetings, including exam boards; and the publication of students’ results. The ability to work as part of a team and to be able to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels is essential.
Earlier this year, UWE launched its Strategy 2030 vision, so you will be joining the team at an exciting time. UWE is also investing in its IT infrastructure and has recently procured a new student record system. The SAT team will play a vital role in the development and integration of this new system to ensure the transition from old to new system is seamless for our students and staff.
The environment we work in is vibrant and faced paced, you’ll feel part of a team and have a sense that you are able to make a difference to our students’ experience. This is a team where ideas are valued and listened to. We look forward to receiving an application from you.
About you: We are looking for someone with a strong customer service ethos, enthusiasm and proactivity, and an ability to prioritise. You will be expected to provide advice and support to our customers both internally and externally. There are two permanent vacancies, one post based at Frenchay Campus and one based at Glenside Campus. There is also a one year fixed term post available at Frenchay Campus. We do have SAT teams based at all of our campuses and you may be asked to work from the other campuses from time to time, this could be to attend training, team meetings or to support other teams. There are also peak times during the academic calendar when taking leave is restricted and additional hours may be required to ensure core tasks are achieved.
We are looking for someone that works well within a team and has a wide range of administrative experience. You will also need to have good IT skills including email and MS Office.
There will be times when workloads are high and you will be managing competing deadlines and requests. It is therefore essential that you are resilient, flexible and able to approach your work in a calm and professional manner. The role requires strong organisational and communication skills. You will be supported in learning this role and given opportunities to develop your skills and experience. UWE, Bristol is a campus-based University. These roles require staff to be on campus most of the time, though there may be times when working from home is possible.
